Completing multi-factor authentication (MFA)
You can use an authenticator app to activate your new Trader Support Service account and sign in securely. You will need to access the app every time you sign in.
Downloading an authenticator app
If you do not already have an authenticator app, you can download one for your smartphone or tablet from your app store.
If you do not have a smartphone or tablet, search online for an authenticator app for your computer. You can use any authenticator app. Several free apps are available, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator.
Using your authenticator app
When you have downloaded the app or if you already have one:
- Follow the signing in steps until you reach the Choose how to verify your identity page.
- Select Get a code on your authenticator app.
- Open your authenticator app on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
- Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code shown on the Activate your account using a one-time passcode page.
To open the Scan QR code feature, select the icon in the bottom right of the app.
If you cannot scan the QR code, type the secret or setup key shown on the page into your authenticator app. Some authenticator apps call the setup key a 'code'. This can also be accessed from the icon in the bottom right of the app.
- The authenticator app will show a 6-digit passcode.
- Enter the passcode in the text box.
- Select Continue.
You should now be able to sign in.
